As a singing drummer, when I’m singing from an omniscient narrator POV, I pan the drums to audience perspective. When I’m singing from my own POV, I pan to drummer’s perspective. It may be too subtle for the majority of listeners, but it still has significance for me.

Someone explained this, but anyone rewatching this an important unsaid point is: when you lift the 2nd track or parallel you are in fact lifting up everything around the unwanted frequency or frequency range. So the original is as it is, and if you don’t want 800-900, the 2nd track is thus boosting everything around that so thus combined with the original it is perceived to then diminish the original annoying aspects, lift around it.
